Fahrenheit 9/11 - Pseudo Documentary
The recently released Michael Moore movie, Fahrenheit 9/11, purports to be a documentary detailing the Bush administration both pre and post September 11, 2001. Nearly 70% of people asked have said that they believe the movie to be an accurate representation of what transpired during that time period. The movie is expected to be the highest grossing documentary film ever.
According to interviews Moore has given to EW, he asked fact checkers to review the film. His instructions to the fact checkers was to insure that there was nothing in the film that Moore could be sued over. Gee - I always thought that the point of fact checking was to insure accuracy and not to check for possible lawsuits. Moore has also commissioned a truth squad to rebut any complaints anyone makes about the movie's accuracy. This has to be the first time in history that any movie director or producer has gone to this extent to attempt to counter any criticism of their work. Moore has claimed the film is intended to generate a dialogue about the Bush administration. What kind of dialogue does he expect to generate with a truth squad to stifle any criticism. It appears the only dialogue Michael Moore is interested in generating is praise of his work.
It is quite obvious to this writer that Michael Moore has an agenda behind his so-called documentary. He hopes it will result in ousting of George Bush in the coming November election. To compile a movie without regards for accuracy but solely for impact and claim it is a documentary is a disservice to movie-goers. That fact that many in the Hollywood community have not called Mr. Moore on his blatant propaganda file in the guise of a documentary implies complicity in his venture.
