Hurricane Katerina Aftermath
Hurricane Katrina has hit the Gulf of Mexico states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama causing flooding and building damage in the billions of dollars. One can easily feel for those who have lost the homes due to wind damage and flooding in this area.
Those that I can't feel bad for are the individuals who, after being told to evacuate well in advance to the hurricane hitting, choose instead to 'ride out the storm' in their homes. With a category 5 hurricane bearing down on you and with city, town and county officials ordering evacuations, those choosing to remain behind are nothing short of foolhardy. Seeing some of them sitting on the roofs of their homes waiting for someone to 'bail them out' from their innate stupidity, I almost wish authorities left them just where they deserve to be, stranded looking like the fools that they are.
Those that I get the most irritated at are those dumb individuals who choose to put themselves in life threatening situations feeling confidant that someone else will be willing to put their own lives at risk to save them. It's time we stop catering to this idiotic individuals and leave them to their own devices.
