Senator Kerry and His Foreign Friends
Senator John Kerry, the presumptive Democratic Presidential candidate, recently announced that a number of foreign leaders he had spoken to, had championed his candidacy and hoped he would beat George Bush in the November election. When asked by a participant at a town meeting, who these foreign leaders were, Kerry finally responded it was "none of the questioner's business" who the foreign leaders were.
John Kerry should keep in mind that no matter how many friendly foreign leaders he has abroad, none of them will be eligible to vote for him in the coming November election. And should one of the foreign leaders championing his presidential bid be French President Jacques Chirac, it will have little, in any, affect on American Voters (re - freedom fries). One might even muse that one of the (former) foreign leaders might be Saddam Hussein hoping for a presidential pardon in 2005.
It is being disingenuous with the american voters to proclaim backing from foreign leaders and then to claim 'privileged conversations' when asked who these foreign leaders are. Based on this 'episode', I predict that Senator Kerry is likely to implode on his way to the presidency unless his 'handlers' keep his off-the-cuff comments under wraps.
