Let's Refuel America
The Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealerships have begun an advertising campaign to give new Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep buyers a debit card they can use when purchasing gas for their new vehicle where they will only be charge $2.99 per gallon. Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep have very few high gas mileage models.
This is the height of ridiculousness to create a situation whereby new car buyers will be encouraged to use more gasoline than they normally would have on, in many cases will be, a low gas mileage vehicle. When Americans should be encouraged to conserve gasoline, these three manufacturers are encouraging just the opposite. Selling more cars may be helpful to the overall economy, but using more gas is not.
Corporate America needs to stop pretending to be green and start acting green. They are more likely to help their bottom line by being green than talking green and creating irresponsible car buyer programs.
