The 9/11 Commission
On Thursday April 8, 2004, the 9/11 Commission investigating why the US was so ill prepared for the attack held a public interview with Dr. Condoleezza Rice, President Bush's National Security Advisor. Dr. Rice answered the panel's questions for approximately 3 hours.
The commission is comprised of five Republicans and five Democrats. They have sworn to investigate and deliver an unbiased report to the President, Congress and the country. If the April 8 session is any indication of things to come from this commission, the country may very well not get what it expects. The Republican members asked leading questions to allow Dr. Rice to present the Bush administration's position on pre-9/11 while the Democrats primarily made speeches that rambled with no apparent question for Dr. Rice and at one point interrupted her while she tried to answer one of many concatenated questions.
It appeared to this writer that rather than ask questions to accertain what the Bush administration did between January 20 and September 10, 2001, the Republican and Democratic commission members are attempting to position their candidate for the upcoming November presidential election.
