Why Hillary Couldn't Win
Hillary Clinton's name has been mentioned by some in the Democratic Party as a possible nominee for President. The possibility of her being nominated and winning the White House is slim to none. I believe she will be the "Edward Kennedy" of this generation. Mentioned and with good poll numbers until she actually enters the race, and then everything will slide.
Hillary has too much baggage to make it through a Democratic nomination race and certainly through a presidential race. To begin with, there is her role in "Travelgate" which has never been satisfactorily explained. Then there is Whitewater. Yes, the Clinton's were not charged with any crimes, but as an attorney, she would have to have been deaf, dumb and blind not to realize that the paper work she was generating only could have been for the purpose of hiding who the recipients of the loans were (A PBS report said as much). That alone should have been enough to get her disbarred. The kicker is how she and Bill managed to buy their house in New York. Hillary could only have run for the US Senate from New York if she lived in New York. She and Bill felt that a multi-million dollar property was what they needed to fulfill this requirement. The mortgage came to $10,000 a month. Pretty steep by most standards. Here's where Hillary and Bill got creative. The Secret Service, in order to provide round-the-clock protection, need space on the property. Hillary and Bill obliged by offering a guest house on the property for the sum of ....... $10,000 a month! So the taxpayers, in providing Secret Service protection are paying for the Clinton's New York residence.
Democratic opponents and - should she ever get the nomination - her Republican opponent would have a field day.
For the above reasons, Hillary Clinton's name may be bandied about as a possible candidate in 2004 or 2008, but if she ever does declare, her campaign is destined for a crash.
