Rep. Edward Markey's Suggestion
US Representative Edward Markey of Massachusetts has suggested that the best way to protect our nuclear power plants is to surround them with anti-aircraft guns. So much for the wisdom of one of New England's politicians. This is a case of the lips moving before the brain has had a chance to be put into gear.
Think of it, the anti-aircraft guns would, at most, put holes in an aircraft that is 1 or 2 seconds away from crashing into a nuclear power plant. Dear Mr. Markey. The point of protecting our nuclear power plants is to prevent fully fueled aircraft from crashing into a nuclear power plant, not to add a little more lead to the aircraft seconds before it hits.
Let's hope there aren't any other Washington politicians listening to ridiculous suggestions such as this one. They might actually waste taxpayers money implementing some of them.
