Major League Baseball

Major league baseball has announced that it will 'close' two baseball franchises. The two franchises are yet to be formally announced but they are assumed to be Minnesota and Montreal. The fans in these two cities are supposed to start taking long road trips to other baseball cities if they want to watch baseball closeup.

This pronouncement is from the same group of owners who constantly tried to outbid one another to acquire the services of baseball player talent, pushing annual salaries into the previously undreamed of multi-million dollar a year range. Now that they've pushed player salaries to an unsustainable level, some of the teams can no longer afford to stay in business.

It just goes to show even extremely wealthy baseball owners can be as big a fool and anyone else. Wealth does not translate into smarts.
