Cell Phone usage

Cell phone usage has become rampant in some cities in the US. I don't mind passing someone on the street using one (even the ones who are using a headphone and microphone), but I draw the line on public transportation where we are all closed in together and the guy in front of or behind me is talking as if he wants everyone within a block of him (or her) to hear that he is having an important phone conversation. Some of these users might as well be trying to talk to someone using two tin cans and a long string based on the level of their voice!

The worst are the Nextel phones in walkie-talkie mode. They may as well be communicating over a public address system. I want some peace and quiet after a day at the office and I'd like to be able to relax on my way home from work - not to mention on my way into work.

I'm all for communications blocking on public transportation. If someone really needs to talk to someone - if its that important, let them get off at the next stop and make their call from a sidewalk somewhere. Obviously getting somewhere on public transporation isn't as critical to them as is making that cell phone call. And in case anyone is wondering, I do own a cell phone, but I use it with discretion as I wish everyone else would.
