Windows Mojave
Microsoft has a new commercial where PC users are shown a new Windows Operating System called Windows Mojave. The users rave about the new Microsoft OS. Towards the end of the commercial, the users are informed that Windows Mojave is really Windows Vista.
I would be more impressed if Microsoft had instead provided an upgrade disk of Windows Vista to Windows XP users, let them try to upgrade successfully and interviewed them after they'd used it for a week or two. That would be a truly comprehensive test of Vista. Instead they probably had their best techs install Vista on a new system and check the hell out of it to make sure they would be no showstoppers before letting their interviewees touch them! This was a rigged test if I ever saw one.
The complaints that Microsoft has seen with Windows Vista isn't that of newbies trying to use an installed version of Vista, but of users familiar with XP trying to update to Vista and finding many of their installed third party software not working right. Microsoft needs to be open with third party providers on changes to their OS so that third party providers can insure their software works under Vista. Their commercial is more likely to give Windows XP users a chuckle than send them running to Circuit City or Best Buy to pick up a copy.
